"What? I Haven't Done Anything Yet"…Flood of 'Kim Jong-un Meme' Amid Martial Law Announcement A photo of North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un appearing to be bewildered while reporting the December 3 emergency martial law situation has become a meme and is spreading widely. Online community

Since the '12·3 Emergency Martial Law Incident,' related 'memes' (Meme: online viral content) have been spreading online.

On the 16th, several memes satirizing President Yoon's declaration of martial law were shared across various online communities and social networking services (SNS). Among them, a meme depicting North Korea's reaction to the martial law drew attention. One meme showed a photo of a distressed Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, with the caption "???: What is this? I haven't done anything yet..." This satirizes the situation where martial law, which should be declared when war, emergency, or a comparable national crisis occurs making it difficult to perform administrative and judicial functions, was declared in South Korea on the 3rd, suggesting that even North Korea would be perplexed by this.

Another meme combined Korean news reporting the passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol with an image of Kim Jong-un holding his daughter Ju-ae. It implied that Chairman Kim would be closely watching the approval or rejection of the impeachment motion while President Yoon faces charges of being a ringleader of a rebellion. Additionally, a composite photo titled "Now, can we make and send the (poop balloon) again?" showed Kim Jong-un watching Korean news with his daughter Ju-ha.

One netizen said, "Truly a nation of humor," adding, "Making light of it like this seems to calm my anger a bit." Another netizen wrote, "Since the declaration of martial law, I have been unable to sleep due to constant anxiety, but seeing these memes on the community eases the tension."
