Former leader of the Innovation Party, Jo Guk, who has been sentenced to two years in prison and is currently incarcerated, has prompted a heartfelt response from Go Min-jeong, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea.
On the 16th, Go posted on her social media account, "I am flipping through my photo album. I first met him during the 2017 presidential election. He was such a meticulous person. We met again at the Blue House. He is truly a fierce person," she wrote. She continued, "He crossed Jo Guk's river on his own, but could not escape the judgment of the law. And he left with words that he would reflect on himself and become stronger," adding, "The winter wind is unusually cold. It is only the beginning of winter." Along with the post, she attached two photos of them smiling brightly together.

Earlier, on the 12th, the Supreme Court upheld the original sentence of two years in prison for former leader Jo, and he was incarcerated in a detention center on the 16th. Regarding his confirmed prison sentence, he stated, "I do not agree with the court's factual findings and legal application, but I humbly accept the Supreme Court's ruling. I have come here to fulfill my duties as a citizen who abides by the national law." He added, "During my time in prison, I will deeply reflect on my flaws and limitations. Through reading, exercise, and reflection, I will strengthen both my body and mind." He also addressed his supporters gathered outside the detention center, saying, "Please do not cry and see me off with a bright smile. Although the weather is cold, spring will come."
Subsequently, on the 17th, Jung Kyung-shim, former professor at Dongyang University and spouse of former leader Jo, posted on her social media, "I, who am closest to him, had to avoid the camera and watch him enter from afar via YouTube. Today, the coldness of the solitary confinement room froze my face," she wrote. She added, "Now, the time here is your burden to bear. Let us overcome this cold time with warm memories and hearts, holding onto warmer hope." Additionally, Jo’s family conveyed through his social media, "We are well aware that many people still worry and support him," and requested, "Visitation is limited and conducted on a first-come, first-served basis according to application order. We understand your earnest feelings, but please be considerate so that family members can visit him."
