Trump to Meet Netflix and Amazon... Expanding Big Tech Engagement

President-elect of the United States Donald Trump is meeting consecutively with top executives (CEOs) of big tech companies. On the 16th (local time), he met with Masayoshi Son (Japanese name: Son Masayoshi), chairman of Japan's SoftBank Group, and Shouzi Chew, CEO of TikTok, and on the 17th, he is scheduled to meet with Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, and Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon.

On this day, CNN cited sources saying that President-elect Trump is scheduled to meet with CEO Sarandos on the 17th. CEO Sarandos is known to be a supporter of the Democratic Party. Reed Hastings, chairman and co-founder of Netflix, publicly supported Vice President Kamala Harris in this election and made a large donation.

Following CEO Sarandos is Bezos. At a press conference that day, President-elect Trump said, "Jeff Bezos of Amazon is expected to come (to Mar-a-Lago) this week," adding, "I am looking forward to meeting him." CNN reported that the two are scheduled to meet on the 18th.

Bezos is the owner of the progressive-leaning influential newspaper The Washington Post (WP), and during this election, he prevented WP from declaring support for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. Recently, he also donated $1 million to President-elect Trump's inauguration.

On this day, President-elect Trump met with Chairman Son at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, and announced SoftBank Group's $100 billion investment plan in the United States. Afterwards, he also met with CEO Chew of TikTok, a Chinese video platform facing forced divestiture threats in the U.S.

Earlier, President-elect Trump had meetings with Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta; Tim Cook, CEO of Apple; and Sergey Brin, co-founder of Alphabet. At the press conference that day, he mentioned this and said, "The rest of the (big tech CEOs) are coming too," adding, "During my first term, everyone fought against me, but this time everyone wants to be my friend."
