Gongju City to Invest 10 Billion KRW Over 3 Years in Education Development Project

Establishment of Learning-type Neulbom Support Centers, University-linked Kindergartens, and Development of Programs for Elementary, Middle, and High Schools

Gongju City in Chungnam Province announced on the 17th that it has been selected as the second pilot area for the Education Development Special Zone. The city will invest a total project budget of 10 billion KRW by 2028 to implement 28 projects under the theme "Digital Education Naru, Gongju: Where History, Culture, and the Future Coexist."


The main projects include: △ Establishment of a Learning-type Neulbom Support Center △ Development and operation of university-linked kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school programs △ Operation of a smart safety shuttle bus for comprehensive Neulbom support △ Development of AI and digital competency tailored to students and school characteristics △ Development and operation support of after-school AI and digital education programs for students with disabilities △ Development of an educational model linked to Gongju's historical, cultural, and ecological values, among others.


To this end, the city held a briefing session on the Gongju City Education Development Special Zone project at the Art Center Goma Convention Hall on the 16th.


Pilot areas for the Education Development Special Zone are officially designated after a comprehensive evaluation by the Education Development Special Zone Committee following a three-year pilot operation.


Mayor Choi Woncheol stated, "Through the pilot project for the Education Development Special Zone, we will establish a cooperative system with the Office of Education, universities, companies, and public institutions to innovate the educational environment, strengthen the competitiveness of care and public education, and solidify Gongju’s status as a true educational city."
