Direct Hit from Martial Law Crisis, Full Effort to Revive Local Small Businesses
Lee Soon-hee, the Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, emphasized at the previous day's Monday executive meeting at the district office that she will devote all efforts to revitalizing the local alleyway commercial districts, which have lost vitality due to the 'illegal martial law incident.'
According to Gangbuk-gu on the 17th, Mayor Lee said, "Recently, all citizens have suffered from anxiety and fear due to the illegal martial law incident, but small business owners and self-employed individuals have been particularly hard hit," and instructed district office executives to "seek various measures to revitalize the local economy."

Currently, traditional markets in the district have seen a significant decrease in customers, and in the case of restaurants, the number of reservations for gatherings such as year-end parties is far below the average, intensifying the difficulties faced by small business owners. In this regard, Mayor Lee instructed all departments of the district office to actively hold year-end events and year-end parties within the district.
Each department was directed to identify the demand for various consumable goods purchased through local businesses, make advance purchases, and actively consider early payment of already purchased goods and service fees.
The district plans to focus its efforts on transforming the stagnant local atmosphere and encouraging many residents to actively use local commercial districts through the 'Gangbuk Green Santa Market,' held from the 20th to the 22nd of this month at Gangbuk-gu Office and the Suyu Station area. Additionally, the 13 community centers in the district will actively promote and encourage residents and professional organizations to participate in 'revitalizing the alleyway commercial districts.'
Mayor Lee Soon-hee said, "In overcoming the current crisis, what the district office must do is to ensure that residents' lives are not shaken," and added, "Gangbuk-gu will concentrate all its capabilities on revitalizing the local commercial districts."
