Gwangju Social Service Agency recently announced on the 17th that it held a performance sharing meeting for the pilot project of specialized jobs for people with severe disabilities.

The "Pilot Project for Specialized Jobs for People with Severe Disabilities" is part of Gwangju Social Service Agency's Together (Value) Growth Project. Since June of this year, it has collaborated with four disability welfare centers in Dong-gu, Nam-gu, Gwangsan-gu, and Emmaus for seven months. The project was promoted to raise awareness of the value of labor, support economic independence, assist the independence of people with disabilities, and establish and disseminate a public job model.

The performance sharing meeting began with the screening of videos showcasing the achievements of each welfare center. Ten participants shared their individual project activity results and presented the changes and possibilities they experienced through their activities.

Participant Minji Kim said, "Although it was very challenging to carry out this specialized job pilot project, I could feel how much affection was involved. We people with disabilities gained confidence that if we try, we can do something and do it well." She added, "I hope more cultural and artistic jobs will be created so that not only I but also other people with disabilities can participate."

Daesam Kim, Director of Gwangju Social Service Agency, emphasized, "This has become an important turning point to confirm the new possibilities of public labor as labor that produces value." He added, "In the future, Gwangju Social Service Agency will strive to expand the public employment model for people with severe disabilities to provide more opportunities for people with disabilities to become independent in society."
