Paju-si Installs 'National Safe Green Public Restroom' at Beetle Park

A ‘National Safe Green Public Restroom’ that citizens can use with peace of mind has been installed at Pungdengi Park located in Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi Province.

The ‘National Safe Green Public Restroom’ project, led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, is a project aimed at saving energy in public restrooms and ensuring that citizens can use them safely without concerns about crime or safety accidents.

Paju City was selected for the ‘National Safe Green Public Restroom’ contest project last June and secured a special grant of 25 million KRW. Additionally, the city added 55 million KRW of municipal funds, investing a total of 80 million KRW to carry out improvement construction on the public restrooms.

In particular, in cooperation with the Paju Police Station, safety bells to prevent illegal filming were installed in 184 public restrooms, including the Pungdengi Park public restroom, allowing women vulnerable to crime to use the facilities with peace of mind.

Shim Jae-woo, Director of the Resource Circulation Division, said, “We are pleased that citizens can now use safe and pleasant public restrooms through the establishment of the National Safe Green Public Restroom,” and added, “We will strive to create clean and beautiful restrooms that reflect the characteristics of our region.”
