Free entry for Seongdong residents, 4000 KRW for others, featuring various experience programs such as Snow Playground, Rotating Sled, Air Bounce, Viking, and convenience facilities including snack bars
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced on December 21 that it will open the urban winter playground "Seongdong Mujigae Snow Sledding Park," where the whole family can enjoy together.
First introduced last year, the "Seongdong Mujigae Snow Sledding Park" is a winter play facility created by utilizing the idle space of Mujigae Garden (Haengdang-dong 76-3), which remains unused during the winter season.
The park features a small slope measuring 10m in width and 40m in length, and a large slope measuring 12m in width and 80m in length, allowing a wide range of ages from toddlers to children to safely enjoy snow sledding.
Additionally, visitors can enjoy various experience programs such as a snow play hill, spinning sleds, air bounce, Viking rides, as well as convenience facilities like snack bars.
The snow sledding park will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a total of 50 days from December 21 to February 8 of next year, with a capacity of around 600 people admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. However, for safety inspections of facilities such as slopes, the park will close for a break from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. daily, and it will be closed every Monday.
Admission is free for Seongdong-gu residents, while non-residents are charged 4,000 KRW. Visitors must bring identification or a resident registration certificate proving their residency in Seongdong-gu, and some experience programs are operated for a fee.
Last year, the district operated the snow sledding park from December 20 to February 8 of the following year (51 days), attracting over 31,000 visitors and receiving great love from residents.
In particular, a satisfaction survey conducted with 500 users showed that over 90% of respondents were satisfied with the snow sledding park, experience facilities, and accessibility.
The district plans to restore the site to its original condition immediately after the snow sledding park operation ends in February next year to ensure no disruption to the use of Mujigae Garden. Mujigae Garden is an urban agricultural cultivation site operated by Seongdong-gu, which has been leasing garden plots to support residents' healthy leisure activities since 2012.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "The 'Seongdong Mujigae Snow Sledding Park' is a winter playground where families can enjoy together without burden close to home, and we expect it to provide happy memories for residents this winter." He added, "We will continue to strive to utilize idle urban spaces and operate various cultural programs so that residents can recharge their daily lives through sufficient leisure and rest."
