"Repeated Exposure to Violent Scenes"... Korea Communications Standards Commission Issues 'Warning' to '7-in-ui Talchul'

The Korea Communications Standards Commission announced on the 16th that it has decided to issue a legal sanction of caution to the SBS drama '7-in-ui Talchul' (7 Escapes) for repeatedly exposing violent scenes.

'7-in-ui Talchul' was problematic for its detailed depiction of scenes such as a high school student giving birth at school, domestic violence, and placing a living person in a coffin and throwing it into the sea to kill them.

The commission also decided to issue cautions to KBS AM 'Joo Jin-woo Live', MBC 'News Desk' and 'News Today', 'Kim Joong-bae's Focus', CBS AM 'Park Jae-hong's One-on-One Show', and YTN FM 'News King Park Ji-hoon' for failing to follow proper notification procedures while introducing public opinion poll results and big data analysis results.

Regarding KBS 1TV 'News 9', which reported on the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs' budget cuts for this year's independence movement-related projects and referred to it as a 'government-wide erasure of anti-Japanese history,' the commission decided to issue a recommendation due to unclear content about the reasons for the budget cuts.

Additionally, Mokpo MBC 'News Desk' was recommended for reporting on fisheries damage caused by Fukushima contaminated water while labeling a political figure from a specific party interviewed only as a 'fisherman from Sinan-gun.' Busan MBC 'Live Bravo' was also recommended for broadcasting the opening of a local water playground using Japanese expressions and providing advertising benefits to a specific company.
