Lee Jin-woo, former commander of the Capital Defense Command, who is accused of deploying troops to the National Assembly during the '12·3 Emergency Martial Law Incident,' has been detained.

The Special Investigation Headquarters for Emergency Martial Law under the prosecution announced on the 16th that a detention warrant was issued for former Commander Lee, who is charged with engaging in important duties related to insurrection, due to concerns over flight risk and evidence tampering.

Earlier, on the 3rd, after President Yoon Seok-yeol declared emergency martial law, Commander Lee, under the command of former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, deployed a total of 211 personnel from the Military Police Unit and the 1st Security Group under the Capital Defense Command to the National Assembly.

The prosecution obtained an arrest warrant after Commander Lee did not comply with summons for investigation and requested a detention warrant on the 15th.
