Samgeori at the New Port, located on the way to the North Container and South Container terminals via Gaju Tunnel, has the highest traffic volume within the New Port, and vehicles entering from multiple directions often get entangled, posing a high risk of collisions.

Considering this, BPA prohibited lane changes in the hazardous area and installed additional barriers.

On the entrance road to Pier 3 of the New Port, where there were insufficient signs and pavement markings indicating the 30 km/h speed limit and a high risk of accidents due to speeding, BPA installed additional traffic safety signs and carried out pavement work to mark the speed limit. In addition, with the cooperation of the local police station, speed enforcement will be conducted regularly.

This improvement measure was made after gathering opinions from stakeholders and conducting on-site inspections by the 'New Port Gangseo District Traffic Accident Reduction Council,' which consists of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Busan Port Construction Office, Gangseo Fire Station, Gangseo Police Station, and others.

The traffic system improvement work at the New Port, derived and implemented by this council formed in May, is the third effort following the adjustment of color guide lines and stop lines (July) and the improvement of the signal system and repainting of crosswalk pavement near Pier 4 of the New Port (October).

BPA Operations Director Hong Sung-joon said, “We will continue to promote improvement activities to enhance traffic safety and reduce accidents on the Busan New Port access roads through close communication and coordination with related agencies and stakeholders.”
