Relocation of Gwangju Headquarters, Establishing a Base in the High-Tech Industrial City Gumi
Aprosemicon held a completion ceremony for its new factory on the 16th at Gumi High Tech Valley (Gumi National Industrial Complex 5).
This project, which bore fruit about a year after the investment agreement was signed last December, is the first successful investment attraction case since the designation of the semiconductor specialized complex, and is expected to further strengthen Gumi City's advanced industrial competitiveness.
The completion ceremony was attended by about 70 people, including Mayor Kim Jang-ho, Deputy Governor of Economy Yang Geum-hee of Gyeongbuk Province, Vice Chairman of the City Council Yang Jin-oh, Apro Chairman Lim Jong-hyun, and CEO of Business Operations Choi Young-gyu, among others.
The new Aprosemicon factory, with a total investment of 60 billion KRW, was built on approximately 5,212 pyeong of land in Gumi Industrial Complex 5 (Sandong-eup, Dojung-ri), with a total floor area of 2,000 pyeong and three above-ground floors. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, this factory produces Gallium Nitride (GaN) epiwafers and is expected to significantly contribute to revitalizing the local economy by creating 50 to 70 new jobs and relocating the existing Gwangju headquarters to Gumi.
Aprosemicon is expected to grow into a leading company in the next-generation semiconductor market through its GaN power semiconductor foundry business, playing an important role in strengthening Gumi City's industrial competitiveness based on advanced technology and abundant experience. In particular, the influx of personnel and technology due to the relocation of the Gwangju headquarters is anticipated to create a synergy effect in enhancing Gumi City's industrial competitiveness.
In his congratulatory speech at the completion ceremony, Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “Today’s completion ceremony is an important milestone for Gumi City to leap forward as a center of advanced industries,” and promised, “Gumi City will actively provide administrative support for the successful operation of Aprosemicon’s business.” He emphasized, “Going forward, Gumi City will continue to strive to create a business-friendly environment and revitalize the local economy through attracting companies.”
