Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the 16th that Seodanggol Co., a village enterprise in Munseong Village, Juam-myeon, and Kim Seon-jung, chairman of the Dosadong Residents' Autonomy Committee, received the Grand Prize and the Merit Award respectively at the ‘2024 Good Neighbor Bright Village’ awards ceremony held on the 14th at the Gwangju Kim Dae-jung Convention Center.


The ‘Good Neighbor Bright Village’ awards, sponsored by Jeollanam-do, are given to individuals and organizations that have taken the lead in creating happy and hopeful communities.

Seodanggol Co., an agricultural corporation, has been recognized as an excellent village enterprise by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. It has continuously strived to preserve the value of rural areas and improve residents' welfare. Despite challenges such as population decline due to aging, village decline, and the decreasing value of agriculture, it has maintained an organic cooperative system with residents and is evaluated as a good example of fostering village enterprises and revitalizing communities.


Kim Seon-jung, chairman of the Dosadong Residents' Autonomy Committee, was recognized for his contributions over the past 15 years as a local leader spreading filial piety and respect for the elderly, and promoting a healthy community culture through neighbor care and residents' autonomy activities.


A city official stated, “We will continue to support so that village residents themselves take an interest in local issues, unite their intentions, participate in problem-solving, and lead harmony.”
