The KOSPI, which had recovered to the 2500 level amid easing political uncertainty, turned downward due to intensified net selling by foreigners.
As of 1:01 PM on the 16th, the KOSPI recorded 2488.83, down 5.63 points (0.23%) from the previous trading day.
On this day, the KOSPI opened at 2511.08, up 16.62 points from the previous day. It rose up to 0.85% in the early session, surpassing the 2515 level. However, with intensified net selling by foreigners, the KOSPI gave back its gains and turned downward.
By investor type, foreigners net sold 421.8 billion KRW. Meanwhile, individuals and institutions net bought 345.6 billion KRW and 9.4 billion KRW, respectively.
By sector, electric gas, telecommunications, and non-metal sectors rose more than 1%. Pharmaceuticals, machinery equipment, and chemicals also showed slight gains. On the other hand, transportation equipment, transportation and warehousing, textiles and apparel, real estate, insurance, and construction sectors fell more than 1%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics traded at 55,600 KRW, down 500 KRW (0.89%) from the previous day. Hyundai Mobis also fell 3.07%. Additionally, Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Korea Zinc dropped more than 2%. Conversely, SK Hynix, Samsung Biologics, Celltrion, and NAVER rose more than 1%.
The KOSDAQ recorded 699.28, up 5.55 points (0.80%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions net sold 118.9 billion KRW and 57.9 billion KRW, respectively. Meanwhile, individuals net bought 186.7 billion KRW.
By sector, distribution, pharmaceuticals, machinery equipment, medical precision, and electric electronics rose more than 1%. Conversely, construction fell 2.30%, and publishing media also dropped 1.43%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Alteogen traded at 314,500 KRW, down 2,500 KRW (0.79%) from the previous day. Ligand Bio fell 2.27%, and Ecopro BM, Ecopro, Hugel, and JYP Ent. dropped more than 1%. On the other hand, Shinseong Delta Tech rose 7.05%, and Pharma Research also increased 5.10%. Additionally, HLB and Lino Industrial rose more than 1%.
