Yeoncheon-gun Holds Training for Senior Leaders and Awards Ceremony for Outstanding Senior Centers

Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 16th that on the 13th, the 2024 Yeoncheon-gun Senior Leaders Capacity Training and Excellent Senior Center Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Yeoncheon-gun branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association (Chairman Jeong Nam-hoon), was held at the auditorium of the Senior Welfare Center.

The event began with a lecture titled "How to Live in a Super-Aged Society?" by Park Jong-hye, Director of the Korea Institute for Aging Society Education, targeting the chairpersons and general managers of 110 senior centers within Yeoncheon-gun. The program proceeded with reports on excellent senior center cases, an awards ceremony, congratulatory speeches, and closing remarks.


About 140 people attended, including Kim Deok-hyun, Mayor of Yeoncheon-gun, Kim Mi-kyung, Chairperson of the Yeoncheon-gun Council, Jeong Nam-hoon, Chairman of the Yeoncheon-gun branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association, and chairpersons and general managers of 110 senior centers in the area. It was a meaningful occasion to share excellent senior center cases and celebrate together.


At this year’s awards ceremony, five senior centers were selected as excellent senior centers and received plaques and prize money of 1 million KRW each: Tonghyeon 1-ri Senior Center (Chairman Kim Nam-cheol), Eundae 3-ri Senior Center (Chairman Bae Hong-gi), Neulmok Ganpari Senior Center (Chairman Park Yong-sik), Yeil Settiang Apartment Senior Center (Chairman Park Cheon-seok), and Daegwang 2-ri Senior Center (Chairman Lee Gi-seong).


Jeong Nam-hoon, Chairman of the Yeoncheon-gun branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association, stated, “All the chairpersons and general managers who have worked hard to operate the senior centers this year are all awardees. We will strive to become an exemplary organization as responsible leaders in the local community.”


Kim Deok-hyun, Mayor of Yeoncheon-gun, said, “Senior centers are a unique leisure welfare facility that only South Korea possesses in the world. We will perfectly implement the smart senior center construction project promoted by Yeoncheon-gun so that the elderly can use the senior centers more conveniently and diversely.”
