Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held a special meeting on the morning of the 16th to establish a special measure for stabilizing people’s livelihoods and decided to focus all efforts on stabilizing the lives of its residents.
Since the 10th, Namhae-gun has been operating a Livelihood Stabilization Task Force (3 teams, 6 divisions) led by the deputy governor, targeting areas closely related to residents’ daily lives.
In addition, starting from the 16th, a special measure for livelihood stabilization will be established, and the Livelihood Stabilization Task Force will be expanded to all departments.
The main contents of the special measures include △holding livelihood policy meetings △active execution of finances △establishing public service discipline to ensure uninterrupted work △care for vulnerable groups and strengthening safety nets △revitalizing the local economy through tourism promotion (including accommodation support) △operating a price stabilization task force △strengthening marine and fisheries livelihood safety and welfare △enhancing disaster management systems △strengthening wildfire prevention and response △reinforcing emergency medical situations △and revitalizing the distribution of local agricultural and specialty products.
According to these measures, Namhae-gun plans to prevent any possible work gaps through stable administration and strengthen administrative and financial support for vulnerable groups during the winter season. Above all, emphasis was placed on revitalizing the local economy.
Namhae-gun plans to promptly assist residents facing difficulties by establishing a rapid reporting system. Additionally, originally planned events will proceed according to schedule, and active efforts will be made to recover the local economy and stimulate consumption.
Governor Jang Chung-nam emphasized, “In the overall economic downturn and rapidly changing political situation, there is a high risk of consumer sentiment shrinking. At times like this, it is necessary for public officials to have extraordinary determination and passion to turn crises into opportunities, revitalize the local economy, approach residents more closely, listen to their difficulties, and promptly present solutions.”
