Gyeongbuk Development Corporation (President Lee Jae-hyuk) is accelerating efforts to create warm homes for vulnerable groups in the province. On the 13th, the corporation held a completion ceremony for the 7th branch of ‘The Happy GBDC House’ in Maesan-dong, Yeongcheon City, Gyeongbuk. The ceremony was attended not only by related organizations such as Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, Gyeongbuk Volunteer Center, Korean Red Cross Gyeongbuk Chapter, and Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea, but also by Yeongcheon Mayor Choi Ki-moon in person.
The target household for the 7th branch of ‘The Happy GBDC House’ completed in Maesan-dong, Yeongcheon City, is a multicultural, multi-child family living in a poor housing environment where the interior of the old wooden house had collapsed, leaving an extremely insufficient living space. Therefore, special care was taken in the renovation work. In particular, since the space is shared by elementary and middle school children, eco-friendly materials were used as much as possible for wallpaper, furniture, and other renovation materials. Additionally, desks, chairs, and laptops were provided to help the children with their studies.

For the promotion of ‘The Happy GBDC House,’ the corporation donated 170 million KRW this year, and the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea supported 40 million KRW, enabling the project to continue more abundantly.
Lee Jae-hyuk, President of Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, said, “I feel proud to have provided a safe and warm space where children can live with peace of mind,” and added, “We will continue to expand social contribution projects linked to provincial issues such as low birth rates and regional extinction to make Gyeongbuk a better place to live.”
‘The Happy GBDC House’ project is carried out through the collaboration of four organizations: Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea, Gyeongbuk Volunteer Center, and Korean Red Cross Gyeongbuk Chapter. The project proceeds according to each organization’s capabilities, including corporation cost donations, dispatch of employees, renovation of housing facilities, contact with local community centers and selection of beneficiaries, and post-completion management.
