Samga-myeon Urban Regeneration, Leap Forward with Smart Technology
Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 16th that it has been selected for the ‘2025 Living-Close Urban Regeneration Smart Technology Support Project’ organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, securing 810 million KRW in national and provincial funds.
This project has been promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport since 2020 to solve community issues by applying smart technologies in areas closely related to residents' lives such as welfare, safety, and transportation in regions where urban regeneration projects are underway, aiming to maximize the effects of urban regeneration projects.
With Hapcheon-gun selected as the target area for this project, a total project cost of 1.18 billion KRW will be invested by next year, including 370 million KRW of county funds, to focus on the urban regeneration project area in Samga-myeon.
The main projects include establishing a smart parking and road congestion management system that provides information on public parking lots and road congestion in Samga-myeon to resolve parking difficulties and illegal parking-induced road congestion in the Samga central area, where visitors to Samga Hanwoo restaurants are increasing, thereby alleviating traffic congestion and ensuring pedestrian safety. Additionally, a smart facility management system will be built to manage urban regeneration facilities and improve energy efficiency.
Furthermore, a resident-centered health care and elderly facility management system will be established at the planned Samga Samsim Eoullim Center and senior citizen centers to provide community-based health and welfare services.
County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol stated, “We will do our best to provide services that incorporate smart technology linked to the ongoing urban regeneration project in Samga-myeon, where visitors to Hanwoo restaurants are increasing day by day, so that residents can enjoy a safer and more comfortable life.”
