The Department of Electric Vehicles at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do) received the Excellent Paper Presentation Award at the "2024 Korean Industrial Convergence Society Fall Conference," held over two days from November 28 to 29 at the International Hall of Ulsan University.
The conference, hosted by the Korean Industrial Convergence Society, featured about 100 papers submitted and presented, including general papers and special sessions in the field of convergence industry forums.
The 2024 Korean Industrial Convergence Society Fall Conference included academic presentations in various fields such as advanced machinery, IT, NT, BT convergence technologies, which are recognized as key growth engines, as well as core areas of manufacturing IT technology including intelligent robots, control and instrumentation, marine resource plants, vision and sensors.
At this conference, multiple teams mainly composed of current students from Dong-Eui Institute of Technology participated, demonstrating outstanding research capabilities and well-organized presentation skills. Among them, Kim Jong-in from the Department of Electric Vehicles received the Excellent Paper Presentation Award.
Kim Jong-in from the Department of Electric Vehicles presented on the topic "A Study on Hands-Free Umbrella Cap" in the automatic convergence system session, supported by the BB21+ project funded by Busan City. The research addressed the inconvenience of holding an umbrella in one hand and a handle in the other when using public transportation on rainy days, as well as the discomfort caused when a wet umbrella touches nearby people. The idea of a hands-free umbrella attracted significant attention among the papers presented in the industrial convergence system session, leading to the award for excellent paper presentation.
Kim Man-ho, advisor to the Department of Electric Vehicles, said, "I hope many students who participated in this online conference presentation will take pride and show even more effort," adding, "I feel proud that our department is the best electric vehicle department in the southeastern region, possessing the highest level of employment quality compared to any other university."
Established in 1995, the Automotive Department at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology has produced over 5,000 automotive industry professionals to date and actively carries out various workforce development projects such as the Ministry of Industry and Resources' "Future Automotive Field Workforce Training Project," the Ministry of Employment and Labor's "Work-Study Dual System for Students," "Cheonghaejin University Project," and Busan City's "BB21+ Eco-friendly Automotive Workforce Training Project."
