This agreement was made to bridge the information gap between generations and to promote social participation and communication among the elderly through senior centers.
According to the agreement, the Project Group will install 65-inch smart TVs, webcams, controllers, and other equipment to build a two-way communication platform in senior centers within the city. After a pilot operation period, official operation will begin in June next year.
Through this, elderly people at senior centers will be able to easily attend leisure programs and health lectures online. Real-time communication between senior centers and the Korea Senior Citizens Association Uijeongbu Branch will also become possible.
In particular, the Project Group plans to provide regular platform usage training to senior center managers and the elderly, and ensure smooth service delivery through continuous technical support.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “I am pleased to provide a better digital environment for the elderly using senior centers in preparation for a super-aged society,” adding, “By quickly delivering city administration news to the elderly and easily providing leisure programs, senior centers can improve satisfaction as representative welfare facilities for elderly leisure.”
