Pilot Operation at 5 Sites Using External Vendors
The Seoul public wedding hall 'Seoul My Wedding' is gaining popularity, with advance reservations for next year increasing by more than 60 couples compared to last year. The city has recently decided to further expand the choice of wedding service providers to better align with the trends of engaged couples.
According to Seoul City on the 16th, 169 couples have made advance reservations for 'Seoul My Wedding' next year, an increase of 63 couples from 106 this year. Compared to last year (29 couples), this represents about a 3.7-fold increase.
A couple who held their wedding at Changnyeong Wigungjaesa in Buk Seoul Dream Forest said, "The various preparations and deposits involved in planning a wedding can be burdensome, but we were grateful that they accommodated us as much as possible to hold the ceremony according to the scale and composition we wanted." They also praised the venue, saying, "The wedding hall utilizing a traditional Korean house (Hanok) allowed us to have a beautiful, movie-like ceremony."
To expand the choices for engaged couples, the city will increase the number of wedding partner companies operating public wedding halls from the current five to up to ten next year. New partner companies will be selected through an open recruitment process until January 10 next year. The number of designated companies per wedding venue will also increase from one to two. However, contracts with existing companies will be maintained for weddings already booked through this year.
The city will also pilot operate 'autonomous choice' public wedding halls where couples can use external service providers of their choice. These include five locations: ▲Seoul Women’s Plaza International Conference Hall ▲Choansan Sky Flower Garden ▲Solbat Neighborhood Park ▲Bulgamsan Healing Town Azalea Hill ▲Culture Station Seoul 284.
Engaged couples residing in Seoul or within the Seoul metropolitan area who are interested in Seoul’s public wedding halls can check venue information and user reviews on the Seoul My Wedding website. Online and phone consultations and reservations are available.
Kim Seon-soon, Director of the Seoul City Women and Family Office, said, "It is meaningful that interest and positive responses from engaged couples toward Seoul’s public wedding halls are growing," adding, "Starting next year, we will increase the options for operating companies to better meet the expectations of engaged couples and strengthen support so they can hold weddings in their desired locations and styles."
