Recruiting 54 Monitors by the 31st of This Month
Removing a Total of 8.1 Million Illegal Advertisements Over 3 Years
Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) is operating the ‘2025 Illegal Mobile Advertisement Collection Reward Program’ to remove illegal banners and flyers that spoil the cityscape and threaten pedestrian safety, and is recruiting 54 monitoring team members until the 31st of this month.
The Illegal Mobile Advertisement Collection Reward Program is a system that rewards residents who collect illegal banners, posters, and flyers within the area and submit them to the local community service center. This program contributes not only to effective removal of illegal advertisements through self-maintenance but also to job creation for local residents.
Participants in the monitoring team will receive rewards up to 2 million KRW per month based on their collection performance. For flyers such as posters and harmful business cards, 2,000 to 5,000 KRW is paid per 100 sheets; for general banners, 2,000 KRW per piece; for scroll-type banners, 1,000 KRW; and for stickers, 200 KRW per piece. However, if only flyers such as posters, business cards, and leaflets are collected, the payment is limited to within 500,000 KRW per month.
Anyone aged 20 or older who is a resident of Yangcheon-gu and can take photos with a camera that displays date and time, and can use Hangul or Word programs, is eligible to apply.
A total of 54 people will be selected, three from each neighborhood, and residents wishing to participate can apply in person at their local community service center from the 16th to the 31st of this month. Selected participants will receive training on the classification criteria for illegal mobile advertisements, collection methods, and safety rules, and will be issued a collector enforcement officer ID before being deployed to the field.
Meanwhile, the district has been operating the Illegal Mobile Advertisement Collection Reward Program since 2015 and has removed over 8.1 million illegal advertisements in the past three years. In addition, the district is promoting special crackdown teams, an automatic warning call system, a project to erase traces of illegal advertisements, and the installation of low-height banner designated posting boards to ensure effective removal of illegal mobile advertisements.
Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “We hope for active participation in the Illegal Mobile Advertisement Collection Reward Program, which greatly contributes to spreading awareness of proper advertising culture and creating a pleasant urban environment,” adding, “We will continue to conduct effective crackdowns and maintenance to eradicate illegal advertisements, foster a desirable advertising culture, and create a clean cityscape.”
