Hyundai AutoEver Establishes JV with Indian Company to Target Southeast Asian Navigation Market

Joint Venture with India's Largest Map Company MapmyIndia
Building Maps for 6 Countries Including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore

Hyundai AutoEver is targeting the Southeast Asian navigation market by establishing a joint venture (JV) with India's largest map specialist company.

Hyundai AutoEver announced that it established the joint venture 'TerraLink Technology' in Jakarta, Indonesia on the 16th (local time) together with India's MapmyIndia. This move comes after the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding last month and have now begun full-scale operations.

The joint venture plans to build maps for six countries: Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore. In the future, it aims to expand its business scope by securing maps of neighboring countries such as Brunei and Myanmar.

The Southeast Asian region requires map data tailored to each area due to differences in road environments such as traffic directions and road markings by country. Hyundai AutoEver plans to enhance the quality of maps in Southeast Asia by utilizing its 'SolMap construction technology.' SolMap is a next-generation map that integrates navigation maps with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) maps, allowing comprehensive management of various data such as lane information and road markings. The joint venture also plans to develop a map supply business targeting global automobile manufacturers based on the secured original maps.

Seodong Kwon, Head of Hyundai AutoEver’s Navigation Business Division (Executive Director), emphasized, "We will build high-quality vehicle maps to provide local consumers with a differentiated navigation experience," and added, "We will support global automobile manufacturers in securing competitiveness in the navigation sector."
