Former District Head's Winter Sports Project 'Nowon Nunsseolmae Slope' Opens December 26
Open from December 26 to January 26, 10 AM to 5 PM daily
Various attractions including sledding slope, ice rink, and amusement park... Free admission for Nowon residents
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will operate the '2025 Nowon Snow Sledding Park,' a place where the whole family can enjoy together.
Based on three years of operational experience, this year the district has prepared various attractions including winter-exclusive experience facilities such as a snow sledding slope, ice rink, and snow playground, as well as an amusement park, smelt fishing experience site, and curling/traditional games experience site.
First, the main snow sledding slope is divided into adult and children sections for safety. The adult slope features a total length of 90m with 10 lanes, while the children’s slope has a length of 50m with 6 lanes. Visitors use free dedicated tubes, and an ‘automatic start gate’ has been installed to greatly enhance user convenience.
Next to the snow sledding slope is the snow playground, where plastic sleds are available for free rental. The ice rink operates six times a day in one-hour intervals (45 minutes operation, 15 minutes break) to maintain ice quality. Wearing skates and protective gear is mandatory, and the rental fee is 2,000 KRW per session.
The amusement park, created for the first time this year, offers five types of rides including sliding cars, rotating swings, flights, Viking ships, and Disco Pang Pang. The ride fees range from 3,000 KRW to 4,000 KRW, and height restrictions apply for children’s safety, so visitors should take note.
The consistently popular smelt fishing experience will also be held this year. The participation fee is 4,000 KRW for catching 15 smelts, making it a fun activity for families. Especially, the smelts caught with a dip net can be enjoyed as freshly fried smelt tempura for 3,000 KRW at the indoor snack bar, adding a unique enjoyment.
Additionally, the district offers various activities such as traditional games like Yutnori, Tuho throwing, and Jegichagi, as well as a curling experience site featuring the popular Winter Olympic sport. Comfortable rest areas provide snacks such as ramen and pork cutlets at reasonable prices.
Since about 53,000 visitors came last year, the district plans to thoroughly ensure safety management in anticipation of large crowds. A total of 29 safety personnel certified in CPR and first aid will be stationed at the amusement facilities, and a separate medical room will be operated. Daily inspections of facility safety, food hygiene, and event site cleanliness will be conducted, and liability insurance for sports facilities has been subscribed.
The 2025 Nowon Snow Sledding Park will be held at the comprehensive stadium inside Seoul National University of Science and Technology. It will operate for one month from December 26 to January 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. However, it will be closed on January 3, January 16, and January 20.
Residents of Nowon-gu, students and staff of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, and children under 36 months can enter free of charge, while residents from other areas will be charged an admission fee of 2,000 KRW. Proof of residence such as an ID card must be presented upon entry for verification.
The district holds an annual event inviting families with disabilities. On the closed day of January 20, a ‘snow sledding slope exclusively for families with disabilities’ will be operated. This is to improve accessibility and provide cultural enjoyment opportunities for people with disabilities who usually find it difficult to use outdoor play facilities. The district is expanding the application of ‘exclusive operation days for people with disabilities’ during various events.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “Nowon-gu continuously reflects residents’ demands and feedback to improve the snow sledding park into a space that anyone can easily enjoy. We hope many residents visit this season as well to enjoy outdoor winter activities near their homes and find healing.”
