Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will activate an emergency duty system to prevent confusion among residents following the National Assembly's approval of the presidential impeachment motion and to strengthen measures for public livelihood and regional safety.

At the emergency public livelihood and safety countermeasure meeting convened at 7 p.m. on the 14th, 22 people attended, including Mayor Park Jun-hee, Deputy Mayor Lee Young-gi, heads of departments and offices, policy advisors, and heads of main departments.

The attendees discussed ▲economic revitalization plans during the emergency situation ▲measures to stabilize prices for public livelihood and support jobs.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “The most important thing is the safety of residents and the normalization of daily life,” adding, “We will mobilize all administrative power to ensure that residents can feel secure and restore a peaceful daily life.”

Additionally, the district started operating the ‘Gwanak-gu Public Livelihood Stabilization Task Force’ from the 10th to respond to the current national political situation and the continued slump in the domestic economy and to alleviate public livelihood anxiety.

The ‘Public Livelihood Stabilization Task Force’ is composed of four teams: ▲Local Administration Team ▲Regional Economy Team ▲Vulnerable Groups Support Team ▲Safety Management Team.

The key focus areas are ▲stabilizing prices in the public livelihood economy ▲job support ▲stabilizing the living conditions of vulnerable groups ▲strengthening safety management.

First, the district plans to promote various support projects early in the first half of 2025 to stabilize the management of small and medium-sized merchants, who form the backbone of the local economy. It will expand early support for loans from the ‘Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund’ to reduce interest burdens on self-employed business owners. The Gwanak Love Gift Certificates and public delivery app (Ttaenggyeoyo) exclusive gift certificates will also be issued promptly to stimulate consumption and increase sales for small merchants.

Efforts will also be made to revitalize traditional markets and alley-type shopping districts. Consumption promotion events will be held to contribute to increasing sales in alley markets, and consulting will be provided for designating alley-type shopping districts eligible for various economic supports.

▲Modernization of traditional market facilities ▲support for safety inspections ▲price stabilization management ▲operation of inspection teams for illegal commercial activities will also be implemented to create an environment where residents can use traditional markets with confidence.

In particular, the district will strive to stabilize residents’ lives by expanding job opportunities. The Seoul Companion Job Project period was extended by four weeks in the second half of this year, and the district has requested Seoul City to expand recruitment and extend the project period for the Seoul Companion Job Project in the first half of next year.

The district has also prepared protection measures for vulnerable groups facing crisis situations. First, it proactively identifies at-risk households using big data and welfare human safety nets. Through a smart care system, it checks on vulnerable households in real time and provides customized care services such as livelihood, medical care, and meals by utilizing public and private resources.

Special protection measures for the homeless are also being implemented, including street counseling and safety inspections of related facilities.

Meanwhile, residents’ safety will be thoroughly managed without gaps amid unstable situations. Winter disaster and facility safety management will be strengthened against cold waves, and emergency contact networks and rapid reporting systems will be used to respond thoroughly to emergencies such as safety accidents.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Although domestic and international instability continues, we will carry out necessary projects for residents without any setbacks and normally.”
