The prosecution investigating the 'December 3 Emergency Martial Law Incident' filed an arrest warrant for former Capital Defense Command Commander Lee Jin-woo on the 15th. Lee, the former Capital Defense Command Commander, was the person who deployed martial law troops to the National Assembly on December 3 under the command of former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun.
The Prosecution's Special Investigation Headquarters for Emergency Martial Law (Head: Park Se-hyun, Chief Prosecutor of Seoul High Prosecutors' Office) announced that it filed an arrest warrant with the Central Regional Military Court for former Capital Defense Command Commander Lee, who is accused of engaging in important duties related to rebellion and abuse of authority to obstruct the exercise of rights. Earlier, the prosecution summoned Lee, but when he did not comply, they obtained an arrest warrant and arrested him around 9 p.m. on the 13th.
After President Yoon Seok-yeol declared emergency martial law on December 3, former Commander Lee deployed a total of 211 personnel from the Military Police Unit and the 1st Security Group under the Capital Defense Command to the National Assembly. Following his arrest, Lee reportedly testified during the prosecution's investigation that he received several phone calls from President Yoon while en route to the National Assembly and was instructed to 'pull out' the lawmakers inside the National Assembly.
Earlier that day, the prosecution also filed an arrest warrant for former Army Special Warfare Command Commander Kwak Jong-geun. The charges against former Commander Kwak are the same as those against former Commander Lee.
