Presided over by Vice Mayor Jang Sang-gil, the briefing was attended by more than 40 people, including related organizations such as the Pohang South and North Police Stations, South and North Fire Stations, the Coast Guard, and heads of practical departments of Pohang City.
Starting with a general report on the festival's overall progress, reports on preparations in various fields such as traffic measures, street vendor crackdowns, promotional strategies, and safety management at sunrise viewing spots were presented. This was followed by listening to opinions from related organization officials to thoroughly check the preparation status without any gaps.
From December 31, the festival will resume year-end programs such as the Busking Festival, Random Play Dance, and the grand event "Wolwolicheongcheong with EDM" after five years. In addition, themed performances utilizing local cultural characteristics like "Yongho Ssambbak," New Year's positive exercises to awaken the morning, and rice cake soup sharing programs will be offered to enhance its status as the "Representative Sunrise Festival of Korea."
Furthermore, TFS tents and air domes will be installed to prepare for strong winds and cold waves, prioritizing visitor safety. Each department and related organizations have embarked on thorough preparations for the successful hosting of the festival.
Vice Mayor Jang Sang-gil said, "I hope that many tourists will visit Pohang for the 27th Homigot Korean Peninsula Sunrise Festival, and I ask for active cooperation from all departments and related organizations." He added, "Please make every effort to create a safe and enjoyable festival atmosphere during the remaining preparation period."
The "27th Homigot Korean Peninsula Sunrise Festival" will be held from December 31 to the morning of January 1, 2025, at the Homigot Sunrise Plaza.
