The Special Investigation Headquarters for the '12·3 Emergency Martial Law Incident' (Head: Park Se-hyun, Chief Prosecutor of Seoul High Prosecutors' Office), which is investigating the case, has requested an arrest warrant for former Army Special Warfare Command Commander Kwak Jong-geun.
On the 15th, the Special Investigation Headquarters announced that it had requested an arrest warrant for former Commander Kwak on charges of rebellion and obstruction of the exercise of official duties due to abuse of power, submitting the request to the Central Regional Military Court the previous day.
Former Commander Kwak is accused of conspiring with President Yoon Seok-yeol, former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, and Commander of the Defense Counterintelligence Command Yeo In-hyung to incite a riot with the intent to disrupt the constitutional order.
Former Commander Kwak testified before the National Assembly Defense Committee that during the martial law period, he received orders from President Yoon to "break down the door quickly and pull out the personnel inside" because "the quorum for the resolution had not yet been met," but he did not comply with the order.
