Changwon Mayor Hong Nampyo Promises to Minimize Impeachment Fallout to Ensure No Inconvenience or Anxiety in Citizens' Daily Lives

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, expressed regret over the passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol and stated his determination to work harder to stabilize people’s livelihoods.

On the 14th, Mayor Hong said in a statement at the National Assembly following the passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon, “As one of the local government heads, I deeply regret that national turmoil has been added amid difficulties both inside and outside the country.”

He added, “I hope that the current situation will be resolved quickly based on the values of liberal democracy and the principles of the rule of law, which are the foundation of the Republic of Korea.”

He also emphasized, “I will do my best to ensure that there is not a moment’s gap in city administration.”

In particular, he pledged, “Despite difficult conditions, I will devote all my energy to minimizing damage to citizens working hard in the field of people’s livelihoods and to local companies leading the national and Changwon economy, such as those in the defense and nuclear power industries.”

Finally, he urged, “I hope that citizens will continue their livelihoods and daily lives as usual so that our local economy can remain stable with peace of mind.”
