In a statement on the approval of President Yoon's impeachment motion that day, Lee said, "Congratulations on the victory in the first round," adding, "We have only just crossed a small mountain." He said, "While we celebrate this victory briefly today, they deny the country where the people are the owners and are constantly scheming to return to a country they control," and added, "Shouldn't we unite to block their counterattack and hold hands together toward the ultimate victory?"

Lee predicted, "Another big hurdle awaits now," and said, "Conflict and confrontation will begin again." He continued, "The fight inside Yeouido will expand into clashes on the ground," and said, "We should be cautious, but rather than parting ways while celebrating this victory, shouldn't we continue to fight together so that swift and strict accountability and dismissal of Yoon Seok-yeol can be carried out as soon as possible?"

He also promised a new democracy. Lee said, "We thought the world would change with the Candlelight Revolution, but although power changed, why hasn't my life changed? Why hasn't this society changed? I remember those who harshly criticized this, the sharp rebuke of so many citizens," and added, "Now, let's start a new democracy, a democracy where the people directly participate, a democracy reflecting the will of the people on the ground."

On the same day, the National Assembly voted on the 'Impeachment Motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol' in the plenary session, passing the motion with 204 votes in favor, 85 against, 3 abstentions, and 8 invalid votes out of a total of 300 votes. President Yoon's duties will be suspended until the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial.
