Jin Jong-oh: "Many Oppose Impeachment to Protect Chu Kyung-ho"

"Nothing has come out yet"
"It doesn't seem to be going according to the Democratic Party's flow"

On the 14th, ahead of the vote on the second impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol, it was reported that there are opinions opposing the impeachment in the People Power Party's caucus meeting to protect former floor leader Chu Kyung-ho. This appears to be due to the burden of having Chu's name mentioned in the impeachment motion, including allegations that he "colluded with President Yoon in imposing martial law" and "obstructed the movement of lawmakers to prevent the vote on lifting martial law."

At the National Assembly on the same day, Jin, the youngest Supreme Council member, told reporters, "What we are currently concerned about is the claim that former floor leader Chu is involved, so I think there is a shared view that this part needs to be watched more closely," adding, "I think it is right for us to quickly correct any mistakes and proceed as the people desire." He continued, "For now, we need to enter the caucus meeting and listen to more discussions."

When asked if there are many opinions opposing the impeachment to protect former floor leader Chu, Jin replied, "There are many such opinions, and I don't think it is right to say our floor leader is at fault when nothing has been confirmed yet," adding, "And personally, I don't think we should follow the flow of the Democratic Party. We need to make a well-judged and conscientious choice."

When asked whether they should consider public sentiment rather than the Democratic Party's flow, Jin explained, "We are certainly considering public sentiment," and added, "It is right for us to accurately judge any mistakes. I want to say that we should carefully consider the will of the people."

Jin, the youngest Supreme Council member, had previously stated that he would vote in favor of the second impeachment motion.
