1203 Nurses and Nursing Students Announce Political Statement
"The National Assembly must immediately impeach President Yoon Seok-yeol to restore constitutional order and arrest, investigate, and punish the co-conspirators of the rebellion through a special investigation."
A total of 1,203 nurses and nursing students have called for the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol. The group 'Nurses and Nursing Students for Dignified Care and Universal Health Coverage' issued a declaration on the 13th regarding the current situation.
On the afternoon of the 10th, the 'Yoon Seok-yeol Resignation Daegu National Council' held the Daegu Citizens' National Rally, a demonstration urging President Yoon's resignation, in Dongsung-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu. Yonhap News
They stated, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration will threaten the lives and safety of the people by provoking war and causing bloodshed," and sharply criticized, "Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, who should be investigated for conspiracy to rebellion, and Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party who led the refusal to vote for President Yoon's impeachment, have declared a second rebellion by advocating for a transfer of presidential power that does not exist in the Constitution, thereby violating the Constitution."
They added, "Under the ruthless and wicked Yoon administration, dignified care or health coverage cannot be expected," and demanded, "The 105 members of the People Power Party in the National Assembly must immediately impeach President Yoon Seok-yeol."
Previously, medical associations have clashed with the government throughout the year over the 'increase of 2,000 medical school admissions.' They have been issuing statements condemning President Yoon's declaration of martial law daily. The martial law command proclamation announced on the 3rd included the content that "all medical personnel, including residents who are on strike or have left medical sites, must return to their duties within 48 hours and work faithfully, and violations will be punished under the Martial Law Act."

The Emergency Committee of Yonsei University College of Medicine professors issued a statement titled "Punish the ringleaders of the rebellion and reverse the destruction of medical care that started the rebellion" on the same day.
The committee argued, "The destruction of medical care disguised as medical reform by this administration was a significant threat that immediately endangered the entire nation," and claimed, "The rebellion had been effectively underway even before the martial law declaration on December 3."
They continued, "We can no longer delay protecting the health and lives of the people," and stated, "We resist the rebellion of the administration that initiated and neglected the destruction of medical care," proposing as a 'method to overcome the rebellion' the suspension of next year's recruitment of residents and medical students and the withdrawal of the medical school admission increase policy.
Meanwhile, as a result of recruiting first-year residents who will begin training in the first half of next year, the number of applicants was only 8.7% of the recruitment quota. Amid the ongoing medical-government conflict for 10 months, it is analyzed that the medical community's backlash against President Yoon Seok-yeol's martial law 'punishment' proclamation also affected the application rate.
