On the afternoon of the 13th, Kwon held his first press briefing since taking office at the National Assembly and said, "(Regarding Kim's remarks) I plan to fact-check, but it seems the stage is set," adding, "Can a wandering vagabond stay still? I think this statement was made with the intention of shaking our party a day before the impeachment vote."

Earlier, Kim appeared as a witness during the National Assembly Science, Technology, Broadcasting and Communications Committee's urgent inquiry and mentioned such tip-off content on the premise that he had not confirmed all the facts. Kim introduced the tip-off he heard, saying, "The first tip I received was not that a 'arrest squad' was coming, but that an 'assassination squad' was being activated." Kim claimed, "First, Han Dong-hoon, who is being arrested and transferred, is assassinated; second, Cho Kuk, Yang Jeong-cheol, and Kim Eo-jun are arrested and the escorting unit is attacked to pretend to rescue them but then flee; third, North Korean military uniforms are buried at a specific location; fourth, after a certain point in time, the military uniforms are found and announced as the work of North Korea."

Kim added, "The assassination of Representative Han is because he is the ruling party leader who can easily be blamed on North Korea," and "The purpose of the rescue operation for Cho Kuk, Yang Jeong-cheol, and Kim Eo-jun is to inflict maximum damage on the escorting unit to announce that North Korea attempted to rescue pro-North forces." He continued, "I did not hear about whether Cho Kuk, Yang Jeong-cheol, and Kim Eo-jun were killed in the process, so I do not know," and "There was also information that a few U.S. soldiers were killed to induce the U.S. to bomb North Korea, and that North Korean drones would be equipped with North Korean weapons."

In response, Representative Kwon said, "The assassination of Representative Han is impossible," and added, "Who would have given such a tip? The tipster must be presented."
