Daejeon City Council Concludes Final Session of the Year... Handles 60 Items Including Ordinances Daejeon City Council held the 3rd plenary session of the 2nd regular meeting of the 282nd session on the 13th and processed 60 agenda items, including ordinances. / City Council

The Daejeon Metropolitan Council concluded its final session of the year after handling 60 agenda items at the 3rd plenary session of the 282nd 2nd regular meeting on the 13th.


The items processed included 38 ordinance bills, 5 consent bills, 5 approval bills, 2 proposals, 2 opinion hearings, and 8 budget bills.


In particular, during the plenary session, the council approved next year's Daejeon City budget of 6.6771 trillion won and next year's Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education budget of 2.7971 trillion won.


Additionally, the council requested the executive branch to take action on a total of 621 matters identified through the administrative audit, including seeking ways to raise the comprehensive integrity evaluation grade of the council, thorough supervision of underperforming institutions among invested and funded organizations, strengthening welfare and support for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, and children, establishing and actively implementing a comprehensive plan for the efficient operation of public kindergartens, and resolving citizen inconveniences caused by delays in the construction of the temporary Yudeunggyo Bridge.


Furthermore, the council passed a proposal urging the introduction of a gender-equal recruitment target system to address the gender imbalance among elementary school teachers, initiated by Representative Ahn Kyungja, as well as a proposal urging the development of strategies to revitalize Cheongju International Airport for the realization of the Chungcheong Megacity, initiated by Representative Song Hwalseop.


Chairman Cho Wonhui stated, "Despite the very serious political and economic situation both domestically and internationally, the Daejeon Metropolitan Council is doing its utmost for the development of Daejeon by serving as a representative of the citizens and providing checks and cooperation on municipal administration," and added, "We will continue to faithfully carry out our duties as council members for the safety, livelihood, and daily lives of our citizens."
