Korean Air has completed the acquisition process of Asiana Airlines and dispatched executives. They have also started the integration process by removing the airplane wing logo.
According to industry sources on the 13th, Korean Air sent a total of eight executives to Asiana Airlines, including two executive vice presidents, three senior vice presidents, and three department heads. All are executive-level personnel in the flight operations, maintenance, safety, finance, and human resources (HR) departments. This is interpreted as an intention to actively proceed with the integration work.
Additional personnel changes are planned if the management, including the CEO, is replaced at Asiana Airlines' extraordinary shareholders' meeting on January 16 next year.
Meanwhile, as Asiana Airlines becomes a subsidiary of Korean Air, the process of removing the existing logo on the wings of Asiana aircraft has begun. This is because the trademark rights for the logo belong to Kumho Asiana Group.
An Asiana Airlines official explained, "Although the trademark rights for the logo were contracted to be used free of charge, since we have been incorporated into the Korean Air Group, the logo will be removed. However, the Asiana Airlines wording on the aircraft wings will remain during the approximately two-year independent operation period."
