Gwangju City Announces Official Slogan Contest for 2026-2027 Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival

Contest Held for 18 Days Starting from the 17th

Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 13th that it will hold the "2026~2027 Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Sports Festival Slogan Contest" for 18 days starting from the 17th.

This contest was prepared with the purpose of discovering a slogan that wishes for the successful hosting of the Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Sports Festival and embodies the unity and passion of the residents of Gyeonggi-do.


The contest theme should express the dynamism and symbolism of the Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Sports Festival and include a phrase that represents the municipal vision "Hopeful Change, Happy City Gwangju," submitted within 20 characters. Anyone who is a citizen of the Republic of Korea can participate, and the entries will be finally selected through a total of three rounds of review.


The total prize money is 3 million KRW, with awards given regardless of category as follows: ▲1 Grand Prize (500,000 KRW) ▲2 Excellence Awards (300,000 KRW each) ▲2 Encouragement Awards (150,000 KRW each), and 20 Participation Awards (mobile gift certificates).


The final selected slogan will be used for the operation of events and campaigns of the 2026~2027 Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Sports Festival as well as for the production of promotional materials for municipal administration. Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, "The Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Sports Festival is a place of harmony where the residents of Gyeonggi-do unite and strengthen their bonds," and added, "We ask for the active interest and participation of citizens so that fresh ideas full of passion that can shine on Gyeonggi-do can emerge."


Meanwhile, the city will begin official symbol and design development services starting January next year, and through this contest, it will develop a total of 10 basic items including the final selected slogan, emblem (festival mark), mascot, poster, and slogan, as well as 6 applied items such as promotional towers, signboards, and street flags. The finalized symbols and designs will be actively used in various promotional activities for the 2026~2027 Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Sports Festival.
