MOU Signing for the Creation of Saemangeum Mega City

The Saemangeum Development Agency is partnering with the Saemangeum Development Corporation and the Smart City Association to create the Saemangeum Mega City.
On the 13th, the Saemangeum Agency announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Saemangeum Development Corporation and the Smart City Association regarding this initiative.
Through this MOU, the agencies plan to collaborate on establishing smart city plans, discovering pilot projects for smart city services, and identifying and supporting startups for linking smart mobility within the Saemangeum Mega City. This will transform Saemangeum into a region where smart technologies and services converge, including the establishment of a smart transportation system.
The Saemangeum Agency will leverage information and technical advice from the Smart City Association’s members, affiliated companies, and public-private joint coalitions to develop specialized plans and service directions tailored to the Saemangeum waterfront city, thereby providing a differentiated residential environment.
Cho Hong-nam, Deputy Director of the Saemangeum Agency, stated, "This agreement will lay the foundation for smart city development across Saemangeum. By combining the knowledge and technology of the Smart City Association with the capabilities and services of the Saemangeum Development Corporation, we will create an innovative city."
Meanwhile, the Saemangeum Development Corporation was established in 2018 to actively attract investment for the Saemangeum project. The Smart City Association, designated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as a smart city service organization, is responsible for smart city technology consulting, technology discovery, international cooperation, and overseas expansion.
