Improved Convenience While Maintaining Off-Road Performance
Mercedes-Benz has launched a facelifted version of its high-performance off-road sport utility vehicle (SUV), the G-Class. The vehicle retains its distinctive exterior while enhancing digital features to improve convenience.
Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on the 13th that it will release the 'The New Mercedes AMG G63.'
Maintaining the unique AMG line exterior, driving capabilities, and off-road performance, the vehicle improves efficiency with a 48V mild hybrid system. Convenience has been enhanced with a touchscreen display, MBUX augmented reality navigation, a new off-road driver's seat, and a transparent hood. The selling price is 249 million KRW (including VAT).
The front features a new AMG-exclusive grille, and intelligent adaptive multibeam LED headlights with 84 individually controlled high-performance LEDs that illuminate the road according to traffic conditions are standard. Silver chrome AMG fuel filler caps, red brake calipers, and 21-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke lightweight alloy wheels are applied. The Manufaktur model, priced 26 million KRW higher, comes with black brake calipers and 22-inch AMG multi-spoke lightweight alloy wheels.
The new G-Class offers 39 exterior color options, the most diverse selection among Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Interior leather can be chosen from 37 varieties.
The vehicle is equipped with an AMG 4.0ℓ V8 biturbo gasoline engine delivering a maximum output of 585 horsepower (hp) and peak torque of 86.7 kgf·m. The 48V mild hybrid system and integrated starter generator (ISG) provide an additional 20 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. This is paired with an AMG Speedshift TCT 9-speed transmission.
The interior features an AMG performance steering wheel made of Nappa leather. AMG-exclusive driving functions can be controlled via buttons on the steering wheel. A 12.3-inch driver and media display and MBUX augmented reality navigation are also available.
The transparent hood provides a full view including the lower front part of the vehicle, which is normally out of the driver's sight. This feature helps drivers more easily recognize obstacles when driving on rough terrain.
