Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 13th that it will operate the 'Hantangang Columnar Jointing Trail (Pocheon Section) Completion Certification System' starting this month.

The certification target sections are 7 courses located in the Pocheon area out of the total 14 courses of the Hantangang Columnar Jointing Trail, including Gurae-gil, Gamaso-gil, Byeorut-gil, Meonguri-gil, Hanbando-gil, Hwajeokyeon-gil, and Busocheon-gil.
Participants can complete each course and experience the magnificent scenery of the Hantangang basalt gorge along with the beautiful walking trails.
Completion certificates will be issued free of charge to the first 300 applicants. Participants must collect all 7 certification stamps placed on each course in a stamp book distributed at the Hantangang Global Geopark Center (55 Bidulginang-gil, Yeongbuk-myeon, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do) and submit it to the center. Those who complete the courses can also purchase a special commemorative medal for a fee if they wish.
A Pocheon city official stated, “This Hantangang Columnar Jointing Trail Pocheon Section Completion Certification System was prepared to widely promote the completion of the Hantangang Columnar Jointing Trail,” adding, “We aim to publicize the fact that the course numbers of the Hantangang Columnar Jointing Trail, which were previously used interchangeably by local governments, have been consolidated and newly opened.”
He continued, “The Hantangang Columnar Jointing Trail in the Pocheon area offers not only various tourist facilities including the longest Y-shaped suspension bridge in Korea but also romantic national natural heritage sites such as Bidulginang Waterfall, Hwajeokyeon, and Meonguri Gorge.”
