Yangsanguk Flower Festival Visitors Reach Record High of 256,090

This Year’s Yangsan Chrysanthemum Festival Visitors Increase by Approximately 91% Compared to Last Year

Yangsan City in Gyeongnam reported that the number of visitors to the Yangsan Chrysanthemum Festival, held from October 25 to November 17 at Hwangsan Park, reached a record high of 256,090 this year, showing a 91% increase compared to the previous year, based on their own analysis of foot traffic and consumption data.

According to the main analysis results, the total number of visitors was 256,090, an increase of 122,406 (91%) compared to the previous year. In particular, on November 3, the day of the Yangsan Arts Festival, 25,142 people visited, marking the largest crowd.

Visitor characteristics showed that those in their 40s to 60s accounted for 51%, highlighting the prominence of middle-aged and older adults among visitors, while those in their 20s made up a relatively low 5%. Notably, the proportion of external visitors increased from about 29% (38,387 people) last year to 44% (112,056 people) this year, an increase of approximately 15% (73,669 people). The main external visitors came from Busan City, accounting for 74% of all external visitors.

Consumption analysis related to the festival revealed that the total spending reached 3.65 billion KRW, with the average daily spending increasing by about 15% to 152 million KRW compared to one week before and after the festival. Particularly, noticeable increases were seen in the food, accommodation, and transportation sectors. These data clearly demonstrate the economic impact of the Yangsan Chrysanthemum Festival.

This year’s Yangsan Chrysanthemum Festival showed significant growth in visitor numbers and consumption activities due to the change of venue (from Yangsancheon to Hwangsan Park) and the extension of the festival period (from 17 days to 24 days).

Park Suk-jin, head of the Information and Statistics Division, stated, “Visitor and consumption data will be used as important reference materials for future festival planning and revitalization of the surrounding local economy.”
