Seoul Facilities Corporation Provides Hourly Traffic Updates Within 7 Days
Also Offers Version for Color Vision Deficiency Users
Seoul Facilities Corporation (Chairman Han Guk-yeong) is launching a new ‘Travel Time Forecast Service’ that provides expected vehicle travel times by time of day on major car-only roads in Seoul, such as Olympic-daero and Gangbyeonbuk-ro.
This service is an enhanced version of the ‘Traffic Congestion Forecast Service’ introduced by the corporation in 2022, with added features to improve user convenience, and is available on the Seoul Urban Expressway traffic information website.
Users can check the travel times for the next 7 days in 1-hour increments on seven car-only roads including Olympic-daero, Gangbyeonbuk-ro, Naebu Sunhwan-ro, Bukbu Ganseon-ro, Dongbu Ganseon-ro, Bundang Suseo-ro, Gyeongbu Expressway, as well as some major sections of Han River bridges.
After selecting the date, time, and the relevant road, users can choose a departure point, and the travel time to major points along with detailed traffic conditions on the route will be displayed on the map with color-coded segments.
For example, if the road is set to ‘Olympic-daero Gimpo direction,’ users can select from eight major points on Olympic-daero such as Gangdong, Cheonho, Jamsil, and Seongsu. Upon selecting a point, travel times such as Haengju (31 minutes) and Yangjae (24 minutes) will be shown.
The existing ‘Traffic Congestion Forecast Service’ guides citizens by displaying traffic conditions on the Seoul map screen using only three colors: smooth (green), slow (yellow), and congested (red).
Additionally, this new service is also available in a color vision deficiency-friendly map version. Users can access it by clicking the ‘For Color Vision Deficiency’ banner at the top right of the standard map screen.
Han Guk-yeong, Chairman of Seoul Facilities Corporation, stated, “This service is characterized by improved accuracy through big data analysis techniques applied to five years of traffic information,” and added, “We will continue to strive to introduce public services that benefit citizens by utilizing the latest digital technologies.”
