Selected as Outstanding District in Two Areas of 'Local Welfare Project Evaluation': 'Visiting Health and Welfare Service Provision' and 'Integrated Medical Care Support'... Only Seoul Autonomous District to Win 'Integrated Medical Care Support' Award... Yeongdeungpo Praised for Unique Care Including Home Medical Care and Mobile Services... "We Will Carefully Observe Residents' Daily Lives to Create a 'Happy Welfare City Yeongdeungpo' for All Residents"
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it was selected as an “Excellent District” in both the “Provision of Visiting Health and Welfare Services” and the “Integrated Medical Care Support” categories, the latter being the only award received among Seoul’s autonomous districts, in the 2024 Regional Welfare Project Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The “Regional Welfare Project Evaluation” is an assessment by the Ministry of Health and Welfare that encourages outstanding local governments nationwide by discovering various excellent welfare cases and implementing leading welfare policies to contribute to the welfare improvement of local residents.
The district achieved the remarkable feat of being selected as an “Excellent District” in both the “Provision of Visiting Health and Welfare Services” and “Integrated Medical Care Support” categories after a rigorous evaluation. Among these, the “Integrated Medical Care Support” award is particularly meaningful as Yeongdeungpo-gu was the only autonomous district in Seoul to receive it.
First, the district proudly earned the title of Excellent District in the “Provision of Visiting Health and Welfare Services” category. Under the vision of “Yeongdeungpo, a Welfare City Where Everyone is Happy Together,” the district received high praise for its multifaceted efforts to improve welfare services, including ▲discovering vulnerable households using the mobile welfare window “Red Mailbox,” ▲activating the mobile happiness connection to eliminate welfare blind spots, ▲providing welfare service consultations utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), and ▲strengthening welfare resource linkage through the reorganization of the intensive visiting system for vulnerable households.
Next, in the “Integrated Medical Care Support” category, the district was highly evaluated for establishing Yeongdeungpo’s unique community-based medical care system, which includes ▲“Care SOS,” providing customized care for patients requiring urgent care such as discharged patients, ▲the pilot project of the “Long-term Care Home Medical Center” that visits households with mobility difficulties to provide integrated care, ▲the “Health Companion Project” where the Health Companion TF team visits elderly homes to check their health, ▲“Taewodeurim,” a hospital transportation service for low-income groups, and ▲“Healthy Home (Geonganghan-ga),” which offers customized meals such as patient diets.
Going forward, the district plans to further strengthen community care centered on a robust public safety net and welfare human safety nets composed of local residents, such as the “Smart Care Team” and the “Goshiwon Landlord Network,” aiming to create a “Care-Safe Yeongdeungpo.”
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “This evaluation result is the fruit made possible by the efforts of our staff who prioritized improving the quality of life of each and every resident. We will continue to carefully embrace and look after the daily lives of our residents and build an even more meticulous welfare safety net in Yeongdeungpo.”
