Dongducheon-si Delivers Designation Certificate to Medical Institution Appointed as a Hub in Medically Underserved Areas

Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 12th that it delivered a designation certificate to Dongducheon Jungang Seongmo Hospital, which was designated as the first base medical institution in medically underserved areas in Gyeonggi Province, at the mayor's office in Dongducheon City Hall.

A base medical institution in medically underserved areas refers to a facility designated under the Public Health and Medical Services Act by the Governor of Gyeonggi Province as a medical institution recognized to have or be capable of having the necessary facilities, equipment, and personnel to provide appropriate health care to residents in medically underserved areas.

With the designation of Dongducheon as a base medical institution in a medically underserved area, an emergency medical system is expected to be established, providing appropriate emergency medical services to citizens. In addition, the designated base medical institution will receive support for personnel expenses and equipment purchases to operate the emergency room 24 hours a day, year-round.

Mayor Park Hyung-deok of Dongducheon said, “The designation as the first base medical institution in Gyeonggi Province is the first step toward improving the medical environment in Dongducheon City,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to prevent medical gaps in our city and provide stable medical services to our citizens.”
