Taean County Council in Chungnam held the "2nd On-site Legislative Development Contributor Award Ceremony" at the Sakseon 2-ri Village Hall in Taean-eup on the 11th.
This award ceremony was organized to encourage the dedication of hidden volunteers who quietly perform good deeds in the local community and to widely publicize their devotion. It was conducted in a special way by visiting the recipients in person to express gratitude.
Following the first recipient last month, Yoon Sunsook was selected as the second honoree. As the president of the Saemaul Women's Association in Sakseon 2-ri, Taean-eup, she has greatly contributed to community unity and regional development.
In particular, since taking office as president of the association in January 2023, Yoon has been recognized for her efforts in fostering a warm community culture by inviting village residents with birthdays each month and serving them heartfelt meals together with the association members.
The birthday parties have become an ongoing activity rather than a one-time event, and it is evaluated that they have brought vitality to the aging rural village by inviting not only residents with birthdays but also elderly villagers.
President Yoon Sunsook said, "This was not something I did alone; all the association members worked together, so I am not sure if I deserve to receive this award," and added, "I will gratefully accept it as an award given to our association."
Chairperson Jeon Jaeok stated, "The Saemaul Women's Association of Sakseon 2-ri has quietly walked the path of service for the residents despite their busy schedule of discovering hidden resources, sharing side dishes, and leading various village events. The birthday parties have now become a representative culture of Sakseon 2-ri, and at the center of it is President Yoon Sunsook's dedication," expressing gratitude.
Meanwhile, NH Nonghyup Bank Taean Branch also participated in the event, adding warmth by delivering 50kg of rice to the Saemaul Women's Association of Sakseon 2-ri as part of the "Sharing Love Rice" event.
Taean County Council plans to continue actively discovering and highlighting the activities of hidden volunteers who quietly dedicate themselves throughout the region and to provide multifaceted support so that their efforts can create greater social value.
