1800 Pyeong Scale New SM Entertainment Exclusive Studio
Optimized for Music Video Production
SM Entertainment's affiliate SM Life Design announced on the 12th that it has completed and officially opened the latest filming studio, the first of its kind in the domestic entertainment industry. This comes two years after acquiring land in Geomsan-dong, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do in December 2022.
The newly completed 'SM Studio' is a four-story building with a total area of 5,950㎡ (1,800 pyeong). It consists of a main building with a total floor area of 4,760㎡ (1,440 pyeong), including a rooftop lounge, and an annex with a total floor area of 1,190㎡ (360 pyeong) that can be used as a woodworking shop and storage.
The company stated, "Equipped with cutting-edge facilities and innovative design, it provides the best working environment for artists and producers," adding, "It will become a hub for K-pop content production."
SM Studio was designed as a multipurpose space to meet various filming needs. The two studio buildings feature a large horizon with an effective height of 17 meters and the latest stage equipment (batten) facilities, providing an optimal production space in line with the growth of the content industry.
Additionally, it is equipped with reception rooms for client meetings, a conference lounge, and large-scale dressing rooms, enabling complex production work. In particular, the annex includes a woodworking shop and storage, making equipment and prop management convenient.
SM Studio is planned to be used exclusively as SM's music video filming studio. As it is a space optimized for producing artists' music videos, the company expects it to create synergy effects in the production of various SM contents.
Nam Hwa-min, CFO (Chief Financial Officer) of SM Life Design, said, "The opening of this filming studio is part of our efforts to support artists and producers in creating high-quality content in a better environment," adding, "Through this opening, SM Life Design plans to lead innovation in the entertainment industry and strengthen competitiveness in the global market."
