Sacheon-si Introduces Foreign Language Support Service for Unmanned Civil Service Issuance Machines

Multicultural Families, Migrant Foreigners, Seasonal Workers, and Other Foreigners
Facilitating Smooth Use of Administrative Services

Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 12th that it will introduce and operate foreign language support services at unmanned civil service issuance machines for the first time in Gyeongnam.


Although about 3,900 foreigners, including foreign workers, marriage immigrants, and seasonal workers, reside in the city, there has been no foreign language support service, causing inconvenience in issuing civil documents.

Accordingly, starting from this day, the city has introduced an unmanned civil service issuance machine with foreign language support at the Sanam-myeon Administrative Welfare Center near the aviation industrial complex and is operating it on a trial basis.


This is the first step to facilitate administrative service use for the increasing number of foreigners such as multicultural families, migrant foreigners, and seasonal workers.


This unmanned civil service issuance machine provides services in four foreign languages in addition to Korean: Vietnamese, Japanese, Filipino, and Chinese, and operates 365 days a year without holidays. It supports the issuance of seven major types of civil documents, including resident registration cards, abstracts, marriage certificates, and building registers.


Meanwhile, the city operates a total of 19 civil service issuance machines at city hall and administrative welfare centers, capable of issuing a total of 122 types of civil documents related to resident registration, land registry, vehicles, local taxes, real estate, and more.


A city official stated, “This was implemented to enhance the convenience of foreigners and facilitate access to administrative services,” adding, “We plan to consider expanding the service based on the results of this trial operation.”
