Self-Built Car Club ‘D.O.S’... 1st Place in Formula Division
The self-built car club D.O.S (Dream Of Senna, Team Leader Joo Hyunbin, Advisor Professor Park Younghwan) of Pukyong National University (President Bae Sanghoon) won first place at the 2024 National University Student Formula Self-Built Car Competition (2024 3rd KFGP STUDENT).
The D.O.S team took first place in the formula category at the recent competition held at Yeongam Korea International Circuit (KIC), hosted by Yeongam County, with 43 teams from 29 universities participating.
KFGP STUDENT is a competition held at an international racing circuit where F1 races have taken place. Universities related to automotive fields nationwide participate, and students race with self-built cars they have directly manufactured to determine rankings.
The Pukyong National University D.O.S team ranked first in the formula category, which uses a time trial format over a 3,045 km course, with a driving record of 19 minutes 289 seconds, a pit stop record of 1 minute 7 seconds, a pit stop converted record of 3 minutes 21 seconds, and an overall record of 22 minutes 51 seconds.
The Pukyong National University D.O.S team designed and built a formula racing car using a 649cc power unit, focusing on weight reduction, and practiced intensively to shorten the pit stop time for tire changes during driving, achieving excellent results.
D.O.S team leader Joo Hyunbin said, “I am happy to be rewarded for all the activities and efforts we have done together as a team. It was a great opportunity to prove that the car we built together is fully competitive.”
Pukyong National University’s self-built car club D.O.S was founded in 1996 and has been active, winning awards at various self-built car competitions.
