The Foundation’s Gyeonggi Teens Musical results presentation event (hereinafter Step Up) is a youth arts education genre-specialized project by the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, designed as a comprehensive cultural arts education program that allows teenagers to experience the entire musical process from rehearsal to performance.

Earlier this year, the Foundation laid the groundwork for youth musical education by operating ‘Next Musical Star’ as a youth arts education program in the first half of the year. After applying and being selected for this contest project in August, the participants completed three months of rehearsals and showcased the results at this presentation event.

Participants were recruited and auditioned among elementary and middle school students in Gyeonggi Province, and from August, the program was completed through about four months of professional instructor-led training every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. for approximately four hours.

The original musical presented at the event humorously depicted the growth process of friends who first met in a cheerleading club they accidentally joined and suddenly challenged themselves to participate in a competition. The passionate performances of the teenagers deeply moved and resonated with the audience.

Chairman Baek Kyung-hyun stated, “This project was a valuable opportunity for teenagers to build confidence and discover new possibilities through the arts,” adding, “We will continue to strive to provide creative educational programs for youth in the future.”

The Foundation is preparing various cultural arts education programs for 2025 to expand citizens’ opportunities to enjoy culture and arts, and plans to continue multifaceted efforts to enhance the cultural quality of life for citizens.
