Jeong Yeongcheol, Yeongdong County Governor, and Over 160 Village Chiefs Visit
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) announced that its sister city, Yeongdong-gun, Chungbuk, visited Bigeumdo to conduct delegated training for village chiefs, fostering exchange relations.
About 160 people, including Yeongdong-gun Governor Jeong Young-cheol and village chiefs, participated in the training held at the Ramada Hotel in Jaeun, Shinan.
Yeongdong-gun visited Shinan-gun in gratitude for the support from the residents of Bigeum-myeon, its sister city, who held a fundraising campaign during Yeongdong-gun’s difficulties caused by flood damage in July, providing 14 million won for flood recovery and about 20 million won worth of dehydrated sun-dried salt.

Yeongdong-gun Governor Jeong Young-cheol said, “We deeply appreciate Shinan-gun for extending a warm hand to our region, which suffered from heavy rain in July,” and expressed his intention to “repay this by donating an orchard to Shinan-gun, leveraging Yeongdong-gun’s specialty as a fruit-producing area.”
Since establishing a sisterhood in 2021, Yeongdong-gun and Shinan-gun have designated Bigeumdo in Shinan-gun as Yeongdong-gun’s Honorary Island, appointed honorary township chiefs, and continued active mutual visits and exchanges between social organizations, maintaining a friendly exchange relationship.
Shinan-gun Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “The connection between Shinan-gun’s symbol, purple, and Yeongdong-gun’s specialty, grape wine, makes today’s harmony even more meaningful,” and added, “I hope this meeting will be an opportunity to strengthen the friendship between the two regions.”
