Kakao Mobility announced on the 12th that it showcased its future mobility technologies to the global delegation from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) International Transport Forum (ITF) who visited its headquarters.
This visit was arranged after key global transportation and mobility figures attending the '2024 Global Mobility Conference,' jointly hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, ITF, Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and the Korean Society of Transportation, expressed their interest in experiencing mobility technologies ahead of the conference.
Kakao Mobility introduced the company’s technological vision through a presentation by Jang Sung-wook, head of the Future Mobility Research Institute, and explained its vision and practical applications of future mobility technologies through exhibits of autonomous vehicles and demonstrations of the robot service 'BRING.'
Additionally, the company showcased its digital twin capabilities by exhibiting and explaining equipment developed in-house for implementing MMS (Mobile Mapping Systems), including high-definition road maps (HD-Map), indoor maps, and robots and drones for creating unstructured maps.
Kakao Mobility reported continued global interest in its key technologies. In October, officials including Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Digital Authority of Sharjah, one of the emirates forming the United Arab Emirates (UAE), visited the headquarters for introductions to autonomous vehicles and robot service demonstrations. Representatives from major countries’ transportation sectors, such as Singapore’s Ministry of Transport and Saudi Arabia’s Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, also visited Kakao Mobility.
A Kakao Mobility official stated, "Amid rapid technological advancements led by global big tech companies in areas such as autonomous driving, it is encouraging that there is ongoing international interest in Kakao Mobility’s technological capabilities. We will continue to do our best to strengthen our competitiveness through independent technology development."
